Music interpretation
‘Konpira’ is the shrine in Kotohira-cho, Kagawa Prefecture. ‘Fune’ means boat. This shrine is dedicated to the God of Safe Voyage. It has attracted many people as well as fishermen since the Edo period.
Geishas (traditional Japanese hostesses trained to entertain guests with conversations, dances, and songs) often use this music to play games with the worshipers at zashiki banquets.
